Apricot: All in the color

Apricots belong to the Rosaceae fruits. The sun fruit, profits from the most adequate climatic conditions needed for their growth and taste. Testour region, in the North of Tunisia, provides both the sunny weather and the right irrigation for the development of the apricots.

 

Seasonality of the apricot

Tunisia have different types of apricots. There are 16 varieties, nine of early harvested, five of seasonal and two are harvested later during the summer or during the period that starts in the middle of april until the end of july.

Apricots is a light fruit that bring a number of benefits for the human body. In fact, its color is a sign of its richness with provitamin A :

Benefits of Apricots

Apricot is rich in carotene, a precious antioxidant, this fruits protect against cancer. It also contains potassium which fosters the elimination of toxins and recuperation especially in relation to athletes. Thanks to its abundance of fibers, apricots can prevent constipation and prevent from colon cancer risks and immune against cardiovascular diseases as well as the control of diabetes and appetite.
